OVERSEER EDWARD JONES, SENIOR

Overseer Edward Jones, Sr. is a native of Chicago, Illinois, and a product of the Chicago Public School System. He is a graduate of Kennedy-King College in Chicago, where he earned an associate of science degree in nursing in 1976. Reverend Edward Jones Sr. worked in the nursing field for over 50-years, with specialties in critical care, emergency room, and home health. In addition to his nursing credentials, he also holds a business certification in health administration from Michigan State University.
 

His ministerial journey began in 1989, where he served as a deacon at Come Alive Ministry of Faith Church under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Marion and Dr. Vickie D. Johnson Sr. He was later ordained as a deacon in 1990 and served faithfully in that office. He was later ordained as a minister to preach the gospel by Pastor Dr. Marion and Dr. Vickie D. Johnson Sr. in 1999. Reverend Edward Jones Sr. was later elevated to the office of assistant pastor of Come Alive Ministry of Faith Church.

Recognizing his call to ministry and having the desire to learn more, he pursued higher education at the Chicago Baptist Institute Theological Seminary, graduating in April of 2007 with a Bachelor of Theology degree.

In 2007, God allowed him to establish Now Is the Time Ministry of Faith Church from a family Bible study. Since then, God has blessed the ministry by leaps and bounds. To God be the glory!

Reverend Edward Jones Sr. has served in many leadership capacities in the community, such as “Black Men Pushing” for Rainbow Push Organization; he also has appeared on various news programs and newspaper articles. He was the recipient of the Dr. Sherry M. Luck Excellence Award for Outstanding Efforts the Quality of Life to PLWHIV/AIDS. In addition to these accomplishments, Reverend Edward Jones Sr. is also a decorated Vietnam Veteran, having served in the 101st Airborne Division, where he earned the Vietnam Service Medal, Military Merit Medal, Combat Medic Badge, Silver Star, Bronze Star, and numerous other commendations. In 2023, Overseer Jones Sr was appointed to the Office of Overseer within the Koinonia Fellowship Gathering of Churches and currently serves as the Director of Ministerial Development.

Reverend Edward Jones Sr. has been married to his childhood sweetheart, First Lady Aurelia Jones, for over 57 years. Together, he and First Lady Aurelia Jones have four children, Edward Jones Jr., Shelia Weathersby, Lakeisha Woods, and Marcel Jones; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
